Day 1 & 2 - Onwards to Belgium!

Our Eurail passes were delayed due to the incompetencies of the Frankfurt Customs. On the night before (Wednesday evening), I had a ball of a time asking the post office why an established state like germany needed so long to get our mail to us when it's not even a big parcel. Further, I told them that they were welcome to take a look inside the damn envelope cos it's not as if i could hide a bomb in there. If I didn't bug them, it'd take a further 2 weeks to get the stuff to me.

Somehow or other, they got their ass movin', and I got my stuff by the next morning at 11am. It was a big surprise and we were already planning to go to Mainz or Wiesbaden just to pass time. As it was, me and ben decided to just do the trip, and within 1 1/2 hours, we were packed, showered and on the train to Leuven! This trip would take us to Koblenz and then to Cologne and finally to Leuven. What we didn't know was that this certain train called Thalys wasn't covered under our Eurail passes, so we basically got bumped off at Aachen and then had to find an alternative train.

Train station at Aachen...

But, we finally reached Leuven at 1930h and proceeded to a night of kebab dinner, some drinks and fries with ketchup, mayo and onions. simply shiok.
Had a good night's sleep and then we went for a walk in the morning around Leuven.
The three of us - Ben, Fangkai and I - had an interesting breakfast that comprised the following:
1) Belgian Waffles
2) Escargots3) PastriesWe finally made it to Brussels, which is damn touristy. Some parts of it was nice, of course, as the pictures will show, but otherwise, it's just expensive and not particularly entertaining. We did a couple of museums - the Museum of Modern and Ancient Art; and we just bummed around in the lobby of the Museum of cartoons. We didn't enter the latter proper just cos we don't exactly know a lot of the cartoons.

1) the Manneken Pis, somewhere that all visitors apparently have to take a look at, even if it's at an inconspicuous corner of town

2) me, Figan and Ben at a nice spot to take pictures
3) a larger-than-life Smurf at the lobby of the Museum of Cartoons4) This Smurf chess set was actually damn nice, but so was the price...5) the Notre Dame Cathedral, which doesn't look anyway as cool as the one in Paris...
